Battery System (Service Information): Battery: Installation
WARNING:
To protect eyes from battery acid, a suitable pair of industrial grade safety glasses, should be worn when removing or servicing a battery.
WARNING:
To protect the hands from battery acid, a suitable pair of industrial grade heavy duty rubber gloves, should be worn when removing or servicing a battery. Safety glasses also should be worn.
WARNING:
Remove metallic jewelry to avoid injury by accidental arcing of battery current.
- Install the battery (1) into the battery tray (2).
- If equipped, position the battery vent tube through the hole in the bottom of the battery tray.
- Install the battery clamps (1, 3). Tighten the nut (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the negative battery cable onto the battery post. Lock the clamp (1).
- If removed, install the battery disconnect fuse (2). Tighten the nut (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the positive battery cable (5) to the fuse block. Tighten the nut (4) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- If removed, position the battery fuse block (3) and insert the clamp onto the positive battery post. Tighten the clamp nut (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the fasteners (2).
- Install the battery cover (1) and related fasteners (2, 3).
