Navigation/Telecommunication (Service Information): Microphone: Description
Vehicles equipped with the hands-free system have a microphone (1) mounted above a grille in the center of the roof lamp unit (2) located between the two sun visors in the headliner near the windshield opening header. The microphone is powered by and provides a hardwired input to the Radio Receiver Module (RRM) in the instrument panel whenever the Voice Recognition (VR) feature of the hands-free system is active. This microphone is connected to the vehicle electrical system through a dedicated pigtail wire harness and connector to a dedicated take out and connector of the overhead wire harness.
The microphone cannot be adjusted or repaired and, if damaged or ineffective, it must be replaced.
