  2. Install the steering gear bolts (1), and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Install the crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT SUSPENSION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Install the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
  6. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  7. Fill the power steering fluid reservoir. The power steering hydraulic system bleeds automatically while the engine is running. The flow of fluid in the hydraulic system causes the level in the reservoir to go down. After a service procedure has been carried out, a small amount of air may remain in the system. A small amount of air does not have any negative repercussions as the system continues to be bled while driving.

To manually bleed the hydraulic system:

    • Start the engine 3 times and stop each time after 5 seconds.
    • Pause briefly between each start.
    • Start up the engine, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock 5 times, then turn the off the engine.
    • Add fluid as necessary, top up the hydraulic system with the prescribed oil.
  8. Inspect for leaks.
  9. Perform a Front End alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
