Removal And Installation: Installation

  1. Install a new water pump gasket (1).

  2. Install the water pump (1) with five bolts (2) tightened in a criss-cross pattern to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  3. Install the water pump pulley (1) with three bolts (2) tightened to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  4. Install the accessory drive belt (3) by positioning the belt over all of the pulleys with the exception of the tensioner pulley (1).
    CAUTION:

    Do not let the tensioner arm snapback to the fully extended position, severe damage may occur to the tensioner.

  5. Rotate the center bolt of the tensioner pulley (1) counterclockwise, install the accessory drive belt (3) on the tensioner pulley (1) and slowly release the tensioner.
  6. Visually inspect the belt to pulley alignment.

  7. Engage the tube retainer (2) to the power steering return line (3) and install two nuts (1) tightened to the proper torque specification. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS .

  8. Install the right front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Install the right lower splash shield (1) with four bolts (3 and 4) and screw (2) tightened to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  10. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  12. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Start the engine and allow it to run at idle momentarily. Shut the engine off, reinspect the belt alignment and check for leaks.
  14. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level. Refer to FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM  .
