Steering Column Overhaul: Inspection

1. Column and housing bearings are not serviceable separately. If column on housing bearings are damaged or worn, replace column or housing as a unit.
2. Measure steering column if collapse of column is suspected. See Fig 1. Measurement should be at least 3.54" (90 mm). If less than specification, replace steering column.
3. Check pivot pins, flex joint and support housing for looseness at pivot points. Check tilt lock shoes from worn teeth. Replace parts as necessary.
