Test 45A - Headlamps Will Not Turn Off
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see appropriate article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE:
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.3L
- WIRING DIAGRAMS - 3.5L
- Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
- Disconnect headlamp switch 8-pin connector from behind switch. If headlamps go off, replace headlamp switch. If headlamps do not go off, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connectors. BCM is located behind right kick panel. If headlamps go off, replace BCM. If headlamps do not go off, go to next step.
- Disconnect headlamp time delay relay from junction block. See Fig 1 . Junction block is located behind end cover, on left side of instrument panel. If headlamps do not go off, repair short to battery voltage in Light Green wire. If headlamps go off, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of headlamp delay relay connector terminal "E" (Red/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Red/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace headlamp delay relay.
