Intake Air Temperature Sensor
- Intake air temperature sensor is incorporated into the volume airflow sensor. Ensure ignition is off.
- Disconnect connector for volume airflow sensor. Volume airflow sensor is located on passenger's side of engine compartment, near air cleaner.
- Using ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 5 and 6 on connector at volume airflow sensor. See Fig 1 .
- Resistance should be within specification in relation to the temperature. See INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE table.
- Using hair drier, apply heat to intake air temperature sensor while monitoring resistance between terminals No. 5 and 6 on connector at volume airflow sensor. See Fig 2 .
- Resistance should decrease as the temperature at intake air temperature sensor increases. If resistance is not within specification or resistance does not decrease with increased temperature, replace volume airflow sensor.
