Vehicle Drive Cycle For DTC P0400
- Ensure following conditions exist when performing vehicle drive cycle.
- Engine Coolant Temperature Is At Least 176°F (80°C)
- Outside Air Temperature Is At Least 41°F (5°C)
- Shift Lever Is In Drive (A/T Models)
- Overdrive Switch Is In ON Position (A/T Models)
- Power/Economy Switch Is In POWER Range (A/T Models)
- A/C Switch Is In OFF Position
- After engine is at normal operating temperature, turn ignition off. Start engine and accelerate to 35-40 MPH with throttle opening at approximately 100 percent (full throttle). On M/T models, transaxle should be in 4th gear.
- On A/T models, with engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM gradually close throttle until throttle is fully closed. Allow vehicle to decelerate without applying the brakes until engine speed is 900 RPM. DO NOT apply brakes during deceleration. DO NOT make any sudden vehicle turns or turn on any lights or accessories during this period. Go to step 5).
- On M/T models, with engine speed at 2000-3000 RPM gradually close throttle until throttle is fully closed. With clutch fully engaged, allow vehicle to decelerate without applying the brakes until engine speed is 900 RPM. DO NOT apply brakes during deceleration. DO NOT make any sudden vehicle turns, or turn on any lights or accessories during this period. Go to next step.
- After deceleration has existed for 20 seconds, accelerate to 35-40 MPH. Drive vehicle at 35-40 MPH for at least 20 seconds. On M/T models, transaxle should be in 4th gear.
- Repeat steps 3) through 5) at least 8 more times. Decelerate to a stop. Turn ignition off.
