Module, Fuel Pump: Removal: Removal

WARNING:

The fuel system may be under a constant pressure (even with the engine off). Before servicing the fuel pump module, the fuel system pressure must be released.

  1. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

  3. Tilt the middle seat forward to gain access to the fuel pump.
  4. Remove the middle seat molded carpet. It will be necessary to spread the carpet open at the prop rods (1) and the seat latch anchors (2).
  5. Locate the fuel pump module access cover under the molded carpet.

  6. Remove the fuel pump module access cover (1) by removing the screws (2).
  7. Disconnect the fuel pump module wiring connector (4).

  8. Disconnect the fuel lines. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  9. Remove the fuel pump module locking ring (3) using SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (special tool #9340, SAE Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench) (2).
  10. Remove the fuel pump module (4) from the fuel tank and discard the seal (gasket).
