Module, Electronic Shifter (ESM): Removal

WARNING:

On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12 volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12 volt system. You must perform the 12 volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect the negative 12 volt battery cable. Refer to ELECTRIC VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

  2. Detach the electronic shifter switch bezel (1).

  3. Disconnect the three electrical connectors (1) below the electronic shifter switch bezel.

  4. Remove the floor console rear cup holder insert, and remove the rear floor console nut (1).

  5. Remove the two floor console vent panel screws (1), and remove the two floor console vent panels.

  6. Remove the two front floor console screws (1).

  7. Remove the front floor console cup holder insert, and remove the two front floor console nuts (1).
  8. Disconnect the floor console 12 volt outlet electrical connector, and remove the floor console.

  9. Remove the two center console screws (1), and the two center console bolts (2).

  10. Disconnect the two electronic shifter module (ESM) electrical connectors (1).
  11. Remove the ESM (2).
