Pressure Test

NOTE:

Before attempting any repair on a automatic transmission, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s with the scan tool.

The transmission has six pressure port test ports, one for each of the clutches (C1, C2, C3, B2), the B1 band, and a test port for the lubrication circuit.

Transmission fluid pressure ports are as shown below:

2 C2 Clutch Pressure Test Port
3 Lubrication Circuit Pressure Test Port
4 B2 Clutch Pressure Test Port
5 B1 Band Pressure Test Port
6 C3 Clutch Pressure Test Port

The line pressure is based on the engine load calculation; higher load equals higher pressure. The pressure increase is proportional to the solenoid output current decrease, as indicated on the pressure test chart. The decrease in output current to the line pressure solenoid and the increase in pressure on the B2 pressure tap indicates that the line pressure solenoid is responding to the increase in engine load.
