Switch, Evaporative Emissions System Monitor: Removal

WARNING:

Do not smoke or use open flames/sparks when servicing the fuel system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection. Make sure the area in which the vehicle is being serviced is in a well ventilated area and free of flames/sparks. Failure to comply may result in serious or fatal injury.

  1. Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

    NOTE:

    When removing the fresh air hose, remove the hose at the fresh air filter first, this will eliminate the risk of breaking the nipple from the ESIM during removal.

  3. Carefully remove the Evaporative System Integrity Monitor (ESIM) fresh air hose (6).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (4) from the ESIM.

  5. A lock tab (1) is used on the back of the switch. Push lock tab towards switch while rotating switch counterclockwise 1/4 turn for removal.

  6. Remove the ESIM from the EVAP canister.
