Positive Cable: Installation

  1. Position the positive battery cable (3) in the vehicle.
  2. install the protective cover (1a) to the starter.
  3. Install the positive battery cable to the starter (1b) and tighten the nut (2) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .

  4. Install the battery cable retaining clip fasteners (1) and securely tighten.
  5. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or BELLY PAN, SIDE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Install the battery cable into the retaining clips (1).

  7. Install the positive battery cable to generator and tighten the nut (2) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Install the protective cap (1) on the positive battery cable at the generator.

  9. Engage the positive battery cable retaining clips (2).
  10. Install the positive battery cable (1b) to the BDU and tighten the nut (1a) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  11. Install the battery. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
