Mirrors - Power: Description

The electronic rear view mirror automatically "flips" to reduce glare during night driving. The mirror is controlled by 2 light sensitive photocells. The outside light level is measured by 1 sensor on the back side of the mirror housing. A second sensor located inside the mirror measures light coming in from the rear. Mirror will lock in the normal position whenever the transmission selector is placed in Reverse.

Electrically powered side mirror assemblies consist of a mirror head with an integral servo motor, and a switch for controlling mirror adjustment located in driver's seat console (Continental), on center console (Cougar, Mark VII and Thunderbird), or on driver's door armrest (Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Town Car). Mirror may be moved up, down, left or right by moving the switch knob in those directions. Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis and Town Car models may also have a heating element in the mirror for defrosting.
