  1. Turn ignition switch to "OFF" position. Disconnect fuel computer from rear of computer. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between terminals No. 5 and 3 of harness connector. See Fig 1 . Resistance should correspond with that shown in FUEL SENDER RESISTANCE  table. If okay, replace fuel computer. If not, go to next step.

  2. Disconnect 5-pin fuel sender pigtail connector located in luggage compartment near right stoplight. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between pin No. 2 and vehicle ground. See Fig 1 . Resistance should be the same as that in FUEL SENDER RESISTANCE  table. If okay, repair open or short in wiring between pigtail connector and fuel computer connector. If not, go to next step.
  3. Remove fuel sender from vehicle. Using an ohmmeter, check sender resistance between pins No. 2 and 3 of fuel sender while holding float in different positions. See Fig 1 . Resistance readings should be the same as that in FUEL SENDER RESISTANCE  table. If okay, repair open or short in fuel sender pigtail wiring. If not, replace fuel sender assembly.
