Wiper Switch Continuity

  1. Use appropriate table and illustration to check switch continuity. See Figure . Either a self-powered test light or an ohmmeter can be used to test a standard 2-speed switch. Use an ohmmeter to test switch on intermittent-type system.
  2. To detect marginal switch operation, slide switch (or rotate knob) while obtaining readings. If switch does not test as indicated or if poor continuity exists in any switch position, replace switch.
BRONCO & "F" SERIES WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY

(1) Resistance between terminals D and E should be a minimum of 200-1000 ohms and a maximum of 5600-8400 ohms.
"E" SERIES WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY

Off 1-5, 3-7 A-E
Low 1-4, 2-7 B-E-F-C
High 1-4, 2-6 D-B-F-C
Wash W1-W2 W1-W2
Interval **** B-E-F
(1) Resistance between terminals F and C will vary from 420-880 at minimum dwell to 8,000-13,000 ohms at maximum dwell. In OFF position, resistance should be a maximum of 18,000 ohms.
