Computed Timing Check
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1989 Ford Escort. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Turn key off and wait 10 seconds. Start engine. Activate KOER SELF-TEST. After the last service code has been displayed, the timing will remain fixed for 2 minutes, unless KOER SELF-TEST is deactivated.
- Correct Self-Test timing equals base ignition timing (10 degrees BTDC on most engines, see emission decal) plus 17-23 degrees BTDC. If timing is not 27-33 degrees BTDC, go to TEST D13 - SPARK TIMING CHECK . If timing is 27-33 degrees BTDC, proceed with KOER SELF-TEST.
