Air Pressure Test Procedure
- A "No Drive" condition can exist even with correct transaxle fluid pressure, because of inoperative clutches or band. Erratic shifts could be caused by a stuck governor valve. Inoperative units can be located through a series of checks by substituting air pressure for fluid pressure to determine location of malfunction.
- To make air pressure checks, loosen valve body cover bolts. Remove cover and valve body assembly. Install Special Adapter Plate (T82P-7006-B) in place of valve body. Inoperative units can be located by applying air pressure to transaxle case passages, through adapter plate, leading to clutches, servo and governor. See Fig 1 .
NOTE:
Air pressure test adapter plate should be installed with a new valve body gasket. Tighten attaching bolts to 80-97 INCH lbs. (9-11 N.m).
