Washer Test

  1. If washer does not operate, check fluid level in reservoir. Fill if necessary. Activate washer switch. If washer pump is inoperative, go to step 2). If washer pump operates but fluid does not squirt from nozzles, inspect nozzles for blockage and hoses for blockage or kinks. Disconnect hose at washer pump outlet and check for blockage.
  2. Using a voltmeter or test lamp, check for voltage on Black/White wire at washer pump while activating washer switch. If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, go to step 4).
  3. Check continuity of washer pump ground circuit (Black wire). If there is no continuity, repair ground circuit. If there is continuity, replace washer pump.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Activate wipers. If wipers do not operate, go to step 6). If wipers operate, go to step 5).
  5. Press and hold washer switch in ON position. Check for voltage at Black/White wire at wiper switch connector. If voltage is not present, go to step 8). If voltage is present, go to step 7).
  6. Activate heater blower. If heater blower does not operate, repair power supply circuit between ignition switch and fuse panel. If heater blower operates, go to step 7).
  7. Remove WIPER circuit breaker. Check continuity of circuit breaker. If there is no continuity, replace circuit breaker. If circuit breaker is okay, go to step 8).
  8. Check continuity of wiper switch. See WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST  . If wiper switch tests okay, go to step 9). If wiper switch fails continuity test, replace wiper switch.
  9. Turn ignition ON. Check for voltage on Red wire at wiper switch connector. If voltage is not present, repair Red wire as necessary. If voltage is present, repair wiper system wiring or connectors.
NOTE: To remove wiper arm assembly, raise blade end of wiper arm. Move slide latch away from pivot shaft. Wiper arm can be removed without the use of tools.
