Vehicle Will Not Start
- On Continental and Mark VII, disarm alarm system by inserting door key and turning to unlock position. Using a jumper wire, short terminals No. 3 and 5 of the starter interrupt relay. See Figure . Attempt to start vehicle. If vehicle starts, go to step 3). If vehicle will not start, system is okay.
- On Cougar, Town Car and Thunderbird, check battery voltage. If reading is more than 9 volts, go to step 3). If reading is less than 9 volts, service battery and retest system.
- On Continental and Mark VII, check voltage at terminal No. 1 of starter interrupt relay or terminal "E", circuit No. 342 (Light Green/Purple) wire of control module. If reading is more than 2 volts, replace starter interrupt relay and retest system. If reading is less than 2 volts, replace control module.
- On Cougar, Town Car and Thunderbird, check resistance between terminals No. 11 and 13 of control module. If reading is more than 1000 ohms, replace control module and retest system. If reading is less than 50 ohms, alarm system is okay. Service starting system.
