Instrument Panel - Analog: Testing: Tachometer
- Check tachometer fuse. Ensure wiring connections in engine compartment and at rear of instrument cluster are secure. Using DVOM, ensure battery voltage exists at tachometer terminal of instrument cluster connector when ignition switch is in RUN position. See appropriate WIRING DIAGRAMS in this article.
- Using DVOM and wiring diagrams, ensure resistance of ground circuit is one ohm or less. Ensure resistance is one ohm or less in wiring to negative terminal of ignition coil, or in wiring to DIS module. Repair wiring as required. If wiring is okay, replace tachometer.
