The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) allows the driver to stop in the shortest distance while maintaining steering control. System consists of a master cylinder/booster assembly, Electronic Control Unit (ECU), Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), electric pump/motor, pedal travel switch, 4 wheel sensors and 2 warning lights (ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE). See Fig 1 .
Some vehicles are equipped with optional Traction Assist (TA). TA works with the ABS to control rear wheel spin when vehicle is accelerated on slippery or loose surfaces.
