ABS Warning Light Indication

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Mercury Tracer, 1994 Ford Probe, and 1994 Ford Escort. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Turn ignition on without starting engine. Observe ABS warning light. If light is on continuously, go to QUICK TEST QT-4  . If light is not on, check 15-amp METER fuse and ABS warning light bulb. If fuse and bulb are okay, go to PINPOINT TEST WL-1  . If light is flashing, ensure DLC terminals TBS and GND are not jumped or shorted to ground. See Figure . If light glows 1.5 seconds before going out, go to PINPOINT TEST G-1  .

NOTE: Some ABS faults require that vehicle be driven in order for warning light to come on. Other faults will cause light to come on each time engine is started.
