Steering Column: Removal
- Disable SRS. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PAD . Remove steering column shroud halves, combination switch, ignition switch, and harness connectors. See COMBINATION SWITCH and IGNITION SWITCH & LOCK .
- Remove steering column shaft lower bolt. Remove lower bracket nuts. Remove steering column upper mounting bracket bolts.
- Lower upper end of column as necessary to gain access to steering gear coupling bolt. Mark steering gear input shaft and steering gear coupling for installation reference. Remove steering column.
