BRAKELIGHT Switch

  1. Brakelights should come on under a maximum 6 lb. (3 kg) brake pedal force. If more force is required, replace brakelight switch. Check fuse and bulbs if brakelights do not come on.
  2. If brakelights work okay but cruise control does not disengage when brake pedal is pressed, perform following test. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between Pin No. 4 at amplifier 6-pin connector and ground.
  3. Apply brake pedal and measure voltage between Pin No. 6 at 6-pin amplifier connector and ground. Difference between voltage readings in steps 2) and 3) should not exceed 1.5 volts.
  4. If voltage difference is greater than 1.5 volts, high resistance exists in brakelight circuit and must be corrected. Voltage should not exist at Pin No. 6 of 6-pin amplifier connector with brake pedal not applied.
