Pinpoint Test D - Wheel Sensor & Circuit

  1. DTC 41 Remove cover from HCU. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Disconnect jumper harness from ABS ECU. Check continuity between ground and ABS ECU 15-pin harness connector terminals No. 8 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 14 (Yellow/Black wire). See Figure . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair/replace jumper harness, repair circuits No. 514 (Yellow/Red wire) or No. 516 (Yellow/Black wire) between ABS ECU and right front wheel sensor or replace right front wheel sensor. Ensure all components are properly reconnected and repeat PINPOINT TEST A  .
  2. Remove right front wheel. Inspect for damaged wheel sensor or toothed indicator ring. Check for objects sticking to wheel sensor or toothed indicator ring. Check air gap between wheel sensor and toothed indicator ring. Air gap should be .019-.037" (.50-.95 mm). If all conditions are okay and ANTI-LOCK warning light is constantly on, replace ABS ECU. Ensure all components are properly reconnected and repeat PINPOINT TEST A  . If all conditions are not okay, repair/replace components as necessary. Ensure all components are properly reconnected and repeat PINPOINT TEST A  .
  3. DTC 42 Remove cover from HCU. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Disconnect jumper harness from ABS ECU. Check continuity between ground and ABS ECU 15-pin harness connector terminals No. 6 (Tan/Light Green wire) and No. 7 (Brown wire). See Figure . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair/replace jumper harness, repair circuits No. 492 (Brown wire) or No. 494 (Tan/Light Green wire) between ABS ECU and right rear wheel sensor or replace right rear wheel sensor. Ensure all components are properly reconnected and repeat PINPOINT TEST A  .
  4. Remove right rear wheel. Inspect for damaged wheel sensor or toothed indicator ring. Check for objects sticking to wheel sensor or toothed indicator ring. Check air gap between wheel sensor and toothed indicator ring. Air gap should be .023-.063" (.60-1.60 mm).
  5. DTC 43 Remove cover from HCU. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Disconnect jumper harness from ABS ECU. Check continuity between ground and ABS ECU 15-pin harness connector terminals No. 4 (Tan/Orange wire) and No. 12 (Tan/Black wire). See Figure . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair/replace jumper harness, repair circuits No. 521 (Tan/Orange wire) or No. 522 (Tan/Black wire) between ABS ECU and left front wheel sensor or replace left front wheel sensor. Ensure all components are properly reconnected and repeat PINPOINT TEST A  .
  6. Remove left front wheel.
