The Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) system controls temperature and blower speed while reducing humidity of air inside vehicle. The system uses a reheat method of air conditioning in which all air-flow from blower passes through evaporator core. Temperature is regulated by reheating cooled air to desired setting.
Outlet air temperature is varied by temperature blend door, which controls amount of cooled air flowing through and/or around heater core. Reheated air is then mixed with cooled air and directed into distribution plenum. The air is then diverted to heater ducts, defroster nozzles and air conditioning registers as determined by function selector lever position.
