No-Load Test

  1. Turn ignition on. Measure and record voltage at "B", "L", and "S" terminals. See Fig 1. Voltage at "B" and "S" terminals should be about 12 volts, and approximately one volt should exist at "L" terminal.
  2. Start and run engine at idle with no electrical load on engine. Voltage should be 14.1-14.7 volts at "B" and "S" terminals. Voltage should be 13.0-14.0 volts at "L" terminal.
  3. If voltage is as specified, check cable between "B" terminal and battery. If voltages are below specification, check wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay, perform BENCH TESTING.
