Test L: Diagnosing Hydraulic Control Unit

  1. Inspect all brake lines and hoses. If brake lines are not okay, replace or repair appropriately. If brake lines are okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove rubber caps from hydraulic control unit low pressure accumulators located at center bottom of unit. Insert clean paper clip into each low pressure accumulator. Have an assistant press hard on brake pedal. If paper clip moves, replace hydraulic control unit. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM  . Using scan tool, perform on-demand self test. If paper clip does not move, go to symptom table. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSTIC CHART  .
