Improper Up/Down Tilting Operation

  1. Operation Check  - Disconnect seat motor connector. Connect a jumper wire to battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect jumper leads to pins No. 3 and 6. See Figure . Observe movement of front of seat. Reverse leads. Front of seat should move in opposite direction. Repeat procedure with pins No. 2 and 5. Observe movement of rear of seat. Reverse leads. Rear of seat should move in opposite direction. If seat moves correctly, go to next step. If seat does not move as specified, replace motor assembly.
    NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with separate front power seats, repeat operation check procedure on passenger's seat.
  2. Circuit Check  - Using a test light, probe pins No. 3 and 6 of power seat motor connector while actuating power seat switch for tilting operation. Repeat procedure with pins No. 2 and 5. See Figure . If test light comes on, circuits are okay. Check connectors for damage and poor connections. Repair as necessary. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit(s) as necessary. Retest system.
