Power Seat Inoperative
- Power Supply To Switch Test - Remove power seat switch, leaving connector attached. Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter, measure voltage between Orange/Yellow wire and Black wire at connector. If battery voltage exists, go to step 6). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- System Ground Check - Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between Black wire at connector and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, service Black wire and retest system.
- Circuit Test (Orange/Yellow Wire) - Measure resistance between Orange/Yellow wire at connector and ground. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair shorted Orange/Yellow wire and retest system. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step.
- Power Supply Circuit Check - Remove fuse No. 28 (30-amp) located in dash fuse panel. Measure resistance between Orange/Yellow wire at power seat switch connector and fuse No. 28 cavity. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, reinstall fuse and go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Orange/Yellow wire. Reinstall fuse and retest system.
- Switch Operation Test
- Connect one end of a jumper wire to Orange/Yellow wire at power seat switch connector. Connect one end of a second jumper wire to ground. Touch the remaining end of the first jumper wire to each pin of power seat motor connector. Touch remaining end of second jumper wire to appropriate pin for opposite seat direction. Observe seat operation. See Fig 1
. See POWER SEAT SWITCH PIN IDENTIFICATION TABLE. If seat operates correctly, replace power seat switch and retest system. If seat does not operate correctly, go to next step.POWER SEAT SWITCH PIN IDENTIFICATION

Connect a jumper wire to battery voltage. Connect a second jumper wire to ground. Connect remaining ends of jumper wires to White/Red wire and Yellow/Red wire at seat back rest motor connector. Observe back rest operation. Reverse leads. Seat back rest should move in opposite direction. If seat back rest operates properly, system is operating properly. If seat back rest does not operate properly, replace motor.
