Test C: Abs Relay Inoperative
NOTE:
This test is associated with the following DTCs: C1081, C1082, C1083, C1085, C1111, C1112, C1113, C1115.
- Check ABS control module and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) connectors for clean and tight connections. Clean or repair connectors as necessary. Clear DTCs and retest. If code resets, replace HCU. Clear DTCs and retest system. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Disconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector (located below brake master cylinder). Inspect connectors for moisture and corrosion. Clean or repair connectors as necessary. Clear DTCs and retest system. If connectors are okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 4 (Black wire) at HCU 8-pin connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black/Yellow wire) at HCU 8-pin connector. If both readings are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If either reading is 5 ohms or more, repair open Black wire or Black/Yellow wire. Clear DTCs and retest system.
- Inspect, clean and reconnect ABS control module 22-pin connector and Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 8-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light stays on, go to next step. If after 5-10 seconds, ABS warning light turns off, fault was intermittent. Clear all DTCs.
- Remove relay box from HCU. Check for moisture and corrosion. If moisture and corrosion are found within HCU assembly, replace HCU. Clear DTCs and retest system. If no moisture or corrosion is found, replace relay box. Clear DTCs and retest system. If code resets, replace HCU.
