Test V - Improper Liftgate Warning Operation
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect liftgate latch switch connector. Measure resistance between ground and liftgate latch switch connector Orange/White wire. With liftgate open, resistance should be less than 5 ohms. With liftgate closed, resistance should be greater than 10 k/ohms. If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, replace liftgate latch.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove liftgate ajar warning indicator light bulb. Check continuity between terminals of bulb. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, replace liftgate ajar warning indicator light bulb.
- Disconnect instrument cluster connector C3. See Figure . Measure resistance between instrument cluster harness connector C3, terminal No. 2 (Orange/White wire) and liftgate switch harness connector Red/Yellow wire. Resistance should be less than 5 ohms. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C3, terminal No. 2 (Orange/White wire). Resistance should be greater than 10 k/ohms.
- If resistances are as specified, go to next step. If resistances are not as specified, repair Orange/White and/or Red/Yellow wire between instrument cluster connector and liftgate harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C3, terminal No. 1 (Black/Yellow wire). See Figure . Voltage should be greater than 10 volts. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace printed circuit and gauge contact clips. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair Black/Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
