Rear Washer Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect REAR WIPER fuse (15-amp) from interior fuse junction panel located under left side of instrument panel. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Replace REAR WIPER fuse (15-amp). Turn ignition on. Turn rear wiper switch on. Recheck REAR WIPER fuse. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear window pump harness connector, rear wiper motor harness connector and instrument panel fuse block 10-pin connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Green wire between ground and interior fuse junction panel 10-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, locate and repair short to ground in Blue wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, reinstall REAR WIPER fuse and go to next step.
  4. Reconnect interior fuse junction panel 10-pin connector and rear wiper motor connector. Disconnect rear washer pump harness connector (if necessary). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and Blue/Green wire at rear washer pump harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open Blue/Green wire.
  5. Turn ignition off. Depress rear washer switch. Measure resistance of Blue/Yellow wire between rear washer pump and ground. Release rear washer switch. Measure resistance as previously directed. If resistance is 5 ohms or less with switch depressed and greater than 10 k/ohms with switch released, replace rear washer pump. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms with switch depressed and less than 10 k/ohms with switch released, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear washer switch. Measure resistance of Blue/Yellow wire between rear washer pump and rear washer switch. Measure resistance of Blue/Yellow wire between rear washer pump and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less between rear washer switch and pump and greater than 10 k/ohms between rear washer pump and ground, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair Blue/Yellow wire and retest system.
  7. Check rear washer switch. See REAR WASHER SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS  . Replace multifunction switch as necessary. If switch is okay, repair Black wire between rear wiper switch connector and ground.
