Rear Wiper Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect REAR WIPER fuse (15-amp) from interior fuse junction panel located under left side of instrument panel. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Replace REAR WIPER fuse. Turn ignition on. Turn wiper switch on. Recheck REAR WIPER fuse. If fuse is okay, go to step 4). If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear washer pump connector, rear wiper motor connector and interior fuse junction panel 10-pin connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Green wire between ground and interior fuse junction panel 10-pin connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, locate and repair short to ground in Blue/Green wire. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, reinstall fuse and go to next step.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Reconnect interior fuse junction panel 10-pin connector. Disconnect rear wiper motor connector (if necessary). Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at Blue/Green wire terminal of wiper motor connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Blue/Green wire as necessary.
  5. Turn ignition off. Depress rear wiper switch. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between rear wiper motor and ground. Release rear wiper switch. Measure resistance as previously directed. If resistance is 5 ohms or less with switch depressed and greater than 10 k/ohms with switch released, replace rear wiper motor. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms with switch depressed and less than 10 k/ohms with switch released, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect rear wiper switch. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between rear wiper motor and rear wiper switch. Measure resistance of Black/Blue wire between rear wiper motor and ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or less between rear wiper switch and motor and greater than 10 k/ohms between rear wiper motor and ground, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, repair Black/Blue wire and retest system.
  7. Check rear wiper switch. See REAR WIPER SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace multifunction switch as necessary. If switch is okay, repair Black wire between rear wiper switch harness connector and ground.
