Preliminary Inspection

- Verify customer's complaint and operate anti-theft alarm system to duplicate the condition. Check for loose or damaged anti-theft hood switch and mounting bracket or loose connection and wiring at anti-theft hood switch. Anti-theft hood switch is located below the hood on passenger's front fender, just above fenderwell.
- If anti-theft hood switch is not loose or damaged and no loose connection or wiring exists, check for damaged disarm switch or door lock cylinder. Disarm switch is located on back of door lock cylinder. See Fig 1 .
- If disarm switch and door lock cylinder are okay, go to next step. If disarm switch or door lock cylinder are damaged, replace components as necessary.
- Check for defective fuse No. 12 (15-amp) in power distribution box. Power distribution box is located at driver's side front corner of engine compartment, near radiator coolant reservoir. Replace fuse if defective. Go to next step.
- Check for any loose or corroded connections at SCIL module and Driver's Door Module (DDM). SCIL module is located behind passenger's side of instrument panel, to the right of glove box. SCIL module contains one 16-pin connector, one 22-pin connector and two 26-pin connectors. See Figure . The DDM is located inside driver's door and contains a 4-pin connector, 16-pin connector and a 22-pin connector. Repair connections if loose or corroded. Proceed to RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
