Retrieving Codes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1997 Lincoln Continental. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required for testing the power mirror system.
Before beginning any trouble shooting or testing, retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from Driver Door Module (DDM) and Driver Seat Module (DSM). See ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If any DTCs are present, see SYSTEM TESTING . Any DTC beginning with the letter "U", originated from another module. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED from DDM during testing, go to SYSTEM TEST "E" . If NGS tester displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED from DSM during testing, go to SYSTEM TEST "F" .
If no DTCs exist or symptoms remain after performing SYSTEM TESTING, see SYMPTOM TESTING DIRECTORY TABLE, then go to appropriate symptom test in SYSTEM TESTING .
