- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect Instrument Gauge System Tester (014-R1063) to Black, 10-pin junction block connector Yellow/White wire. Junction block is located under instrument panel, to right of steering column. Set tester to 56 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and wait 60 seconds. If low fuel indicator is on, replace fuel gauge and amplifier. See FUEL GAUGE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If low fuel indicator is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reset tester to 33 ohms. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and wait 60 seconds. If low fuel indicator is on and fuel gauge indicates 1/8 tank, low fuel indicating system is operating properly. If low fuel indicator is not on and fuel gauge does not indicate 1/8 tank, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ground indicator circuit between indicator bulb and instrument cluster gauge amplifier. In indicator bulb is on, replace fuel gauge and amplifier. See FUEL GAUGE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If indicator bulb is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove low fuel indicator bulb. Measure resistance across bulb terminals. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. See PRINTED CIRCUIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace bulb and retest system.
