Test E: Improper Up/Down Lift Operation
- Operation Test - Disconnect seat control switch connector. Using jumper wires, connect one jumper wire to Red wire at seat control switch harness connector. Connect other jumper wire to ground. Connect other ends of jumper wires other terminals of seat control switch harness connector. See SABLE/TAURUS/COUGAR/THUNDERBIRD SEAT MOTOR OPERATION table. Observe motor operation. If motor does not operate as specified, go to next step. If motor operates correctly, replace seat control switch.
- Test For Open - Disconnect driver seat motor connectors. Check resistance in Red/Light Blue, Yellow/Light Blue, Red/Light Green and Yellow/Light Green wires between seat control switch harness connector and driver seat motor harness connectors. If resistance is 5 ohms or less in all wires, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms in any wire(s), repair open in appropriate wire(s).
- Test For Short - Check resistance in Red/Light Blue, Yellow/Light Blue, Red/Light Green and Yellow/Light Green wires between seat control switch harness connector and ground. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms in all wires, replace driver seat motor. If resistance is 10,000 ohms or less in any wire(s), repair short in appropriate wire(s).
