DTC C1155: Left Front Wheel Sensor Input Circuit Failure
- Turn ignition off. Using Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester (007-00500) or equivalent scan tool, clear DTCs. Test drive vehicle at least 10 MPH. Using NGS or equivalent scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If DTC C1155 is obtained, go to next step. If DTC C1155 is not obtained, concern is intermittent, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition off. Install Rotunda Breakout Box (014-00322) or equivalent. Install Rotunda ABS Adapter Harness (007-00108) and appropriate Windstar 4W ABS overlay. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between pins No. 10 and 22. If reading is greater than 2500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2200-2500 ohms, go to step 6 . If resistance is less than 2200 ohms, replace left front anti-lock sensor. See FRONT BRAKE SENSORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disconnect left front anti-lock sensor connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between 2 terminals on sensor connector. If reading is greater than 2500 ohms, replace left front anti-lock sensor. See FRONT BRAKE SENSORS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If reading 2500 ohms or less, repair high resistance in Tan/Black wire and Tan/Orange wire. Wires are located between left front anti-lock sensor and Anti-Lock Brake Control Module (ABCM).
- Turn ignition off. Install Rotunda Breakout Box (014-00322) or equivalent. Install Rotunda ABS Adapter Harness (007-00108) and appropriate Windstar 4W ABS overlay. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between pins No. 10 and 23. If reading is greater than 2500 ohms, go to step 3 . If resistance is 2500 ohms or less, go to next step.
- Disconnect left front brake anti-lock sensor connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between 2 terminals on sensor connector. If resistance is 2200-2500 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 2200-2500 ohms, replace left front anti-lock sensor.
- Disconnect left front sensor connector. Jumper 2 terminals on harness side of left front sensor connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between breakout box pins No. 10 and 22. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, read test vehicle over rough road while observing resistance. If intermittent resistance is not present, go to next step. If intermittent resistance is present, repair intermittent resistance in Yellow/Black wire and Yellow/Red wire. Wires are located between left front anti-lock sensor and ABCM.
- Remove breakout box and reinstall all components. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool, clear all DTCs. Test drive vehicle over rough road. Check to see is any DTCs are present. If DTC C1155 is present, check for a second related concern. Check for improperly installed aftermarket electrical equipment. Also check for radio interference.
