Adjusting Sleeve: Installation
NOTE:
The two bolts and nuts on the tie rod adjusting sleeve clamp for the tie rod end must be positioned within a limit of 45 degrees (±). The threaded ends of the bolts on the left tie rod end point toward the front of the vehicle. The threaded ends on the right tie rod end face rearward.
- Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. Make sure the adjuster clamps are in the correct position.
- Tighten the tie rod adjusting sleeve to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure.
- Install the stud in the front wheel spindle, then tighten the castle nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Figure.
- Install a new cotter pin.
- Check front toe-in. See 1998-99 SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES -- TRUCKS or 2000 SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES -- TRUCKS .
- Check for clear vision.
