Electronic Door Lock Control System (Keyless Entry)
Keyless entry door lock system consists of Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) Module (beneath instrument panel to right of steering column), Generic Electronic Module (GEM), antenna, and 4-button, hand-held Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter (KERT).
Door locks are controlled by RAP module through external relays. RAP module also control vehicle anti-theft system. Door lock switches are wire directly to relays that control door locks.
The control module performs the following functions:
- Locks and unlocks all doors and liftgate.
- Turns on interior lights.
- Arms and disarms anti-theft system.
- Sounds horn when door has been left open.
- Horn chirps when LOCK button on Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter (KERT) has been pressed twice.
- Activates security feature to sound horn and flash exterior lights.
The remote entry system receives inputs from the following:
- Brakelight Switch
- Door Ajar Switches
- Door Lock Switches
- Ignition Switch
- Program Connector
- Transmission Range Sensor
- Remote Entry Antenna
- Keyless Entry Remote Transmitter(s) (KERTs)
Control module sends outputs to the following:
- Anti-Theft Module (If Equipped)
- Interior Lights
- GEM
- Horn Relay
- Memory Lock Relay
To unlock driver's door, press UNLOCK button on transmitter. This also disarms anti-theft system. To unlock all doors and liftgate, press UNLOCK button twice within 5 seconds. To turn on interior lights and key hole illumination, press UNLOCK button. To lock all doors, press LOCK button once. This also arms anti-theft system. To confirm all doors are locked, press LOCK button again. Horn will sound and doors will lock again. To activate security alarm, press PANIC button. Horn will sound and exterior lights will flash for a maximum of 3 minutes. To deactivate security alarm, press PANIC button again or turn ignition switch on.
