Test D: Illuminated Entry Does Not Work From KERT

  1. Check Illuminated Entry Operation  - Press UNLOCK button on KERT. Press LOCK button on KERT within 20 seconds. If illuminated entry comes on and goes off when pressing UNLOCK and LOCK buttons, system is functioning okay. Return to SYMPTOM CHART  . If illuminated entry does not work as described, go to next step. If driver door lock did not properly function, go to TEST C  .
  2. Measure GEM Illuminated Entry Voltages  - With a voltmeter, measure voltage at Brown/Light Green wire terminal of GEM connector C233 terminal No. 11 (with connector still in place). Continue to measure voltage and press UNLOCK button on KERT. If voltage measured when pulse was transmitted was less than 1.3 volt, go to next step. If voltage pulse was not less than 1.3 volt, clear minimum voltage and repeat this step to confirm high voltage. Replace RAP module. Restore and retest system.
  3. Measure GEM Illuminated Entry Pulse Widths  - With same connections as in step 2), connect NGS tester to DLC. Select DIGITAL MEASUREMENT, PULSE WIDTH METER and choose LEVEL setting LOW. Press UNLOCK button on KERT. If pulse width was 190-210 mS, go to next step. If pulse width is not 190-210 mS, replace RAP module. Restore and retest system.
  4. Measure GEM Illuminated Entry Request Circuit  - Disconnect RAP module connector and GEM connector C233. Measure resistance of Brown/Light Green wire circuit between RAP module connector and GEM connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, see ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Light Green wire circuit. Restore and retest system.
