Upper Intake Manifold: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  4. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
  5. Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  6. Remove the 7 bolts and the cross-vehicle brace.
  7. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor and electronic throttle control electrical connectors.
  8. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the upper intake manifold.
  9. Disconnect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tubes from the upper intake manifold.
  10. Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the upper intake manifold.
  11. Detach the coolant hose and the PCV tube retainer from the upper intake manifold.
  12. Disconnect the PCV tube from the PCV valve and position the PCV tube and coolant hose aside.
  13. Remove the front upper intake manifold support brace-to-upper intake manifold bolt.
  14. Disconnect the 2 intake manifold tuning (IMT) valve electrical connectors.
  15. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector and vacuum hose.
  16. Remove the RH upper intake manifold support brace-to-upper intake manifold bolt.
  17. Remove the 4 upper intake manifold bolts and the upper intake manifold.
