Test G: Personal Security Alarm Does Not Operate From Remote Transmitter

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Press horn pad. If horn sounds, go to next step. If horn does not sound, repair horn. See appropriate wiring diagram in appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  2. Press panic button on each remote transmitter. If panic feature operates properly on all remote transmitters, system is okay at this time. If panic feature does not operate from one of the remote transmitters, replace defective remote transmitter battery or transmitter. If panic feature does not operate from all remote transmitters, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Remote Anti-Theft Personality (RAP) module harness connector C254. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 20 (Dark Blue wire) at RAP module harness connector C254. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, replace RAP module. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit. Circuit starts as a Dark Green/Orange wire at Battery Junction Box, No. 19 (15-amp fuse) and runs to terminal No. 3 at horn relay harness connector C124. Inside horn relay harness connector C124, terminal No. 3 is jumpered to terminal No. 1. Battery voltage is provided to terminal No. 2 (Dark Blue wire) at horn relay harness connector C124, which connects to terminal No. 19 at in line connector C222 (located at left rear corner of instrument cluster). From connector C222 Dark Blue wire continues to terminal No. 20 at RAP module harness connector C254. See appropriate wiring diagram in POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
