Test A: Wipers Inoperative

  1. Remove fuse No. 20 (10-amp) from Central Junction Box (CJB). Check fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and check system operation. If fuse fails again, check system for short to ground. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect wiper/washer switch harness connector C441. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 8 (Green/Orange wire) at wiper/washer switch harness connector C441. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step. If battery voltage exists, go to step  4 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect central junction box harness connector C372. Measure resistance of Green/Orange wire between terminal No. 1 at central junction box harness connector C372 and terminal No. 8 at wiper/washer switch harness connector C441. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair/replace central junction box. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Green/Orange wire.
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals No. 1 (White/Green wire) and No. 8 (Green/Orange wire) at wiper/washer switch harness connector C441. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If wipers operate, replace wiper/washer switch. If wipers do not operate, replace wiper motor.
