Section 142 (Power Window System - F150 Pickup): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Power windows are operated by reversible motors mounted on each window regulator. Each window has an individual switch for separate control. A master switch is located on driver's door from which both driver's and passenger's windows may be controlled. A lock-out switch is incorporated in master switch. When actuated, it prevents window operation from passenger's switch. Some models have an optional power sliding rear window. The power sliding rear window is operated by a switch located in center of instrument panel. Accessory delay relay allows power windows to be operated up to 10 minutes after ignition switch is turned to LOCK position, or until a door is opened.

All models are equipped with a one-touch down feature, allowing the driver to lower the left front window fully by momentarily actuating driver's window down switch at driver's power window switch. To operate left front window in manual down mode, press left front down switch to first detent. To enter auto down mode, press left front down switch to second detent and release. One-touch down feature is controlled by the Generic Electronic Module (GEM). GEM offers diagnostics to locate and repair problems affecting the subsystems that it controls.
