Main Control Cover: Removal

All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Remove the breather tube and disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the intake tube and the air cleaner cover.
- Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the battery tray bracket.
- Remove the battery tray bracket.
- Disconnect the vent hose from the main control cover.
- Remove the lower radiator hose and position aside.
- Remove the wire harness retainer from the front engine mount.
- Remove the transaxle drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.
- Remove the transmission fluid cooler tube bracket bolt.
- Remove the main control cover bolts, transmission fluid cooler bypass studs and the cover.
- Remove the main control cover gasket.

NOTE:
Do not discard the gasket. It is a reusable type. Inspect the gasket for damage. Install a new gasket as necessary.
