Passenger-Side Air Bag Module: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. DO NOT activate air bag system at this time. If installing NEW passenger-side air bag module, remove temporary tape holding wire harness and electrical connector to module. Install wire harness and electrical connector pin-type retainers to air bag module housing after mounting air bag module to instrument panel.
  2. Tabs on passenger-side air bag module must be engaged into slots in instrument panel bracket. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Remove air bag simulator from passenger-side air bag module harness connector and reconnect connectors. Close glove box.
  3. Connect negative battery cable. With air bag simulators installed at all remaining deployable air bag system devices, perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  . Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute. Activate air bag system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
