Heater Control Valve and Heater Hoses

NOTE: Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed.
  1. Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL. For additional information, refer to LIFTING .
  2. Remove the engine air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.0L (4V) or INTAKE AIR, FUEL CHARGING, STARTING & ENGINE ELECTRONICS - 3.9L .
  3. If removing the heater tube assembly, remove the fresh air inlet duct. For additional information, refer to AIR DISTRIBUTION DUCTS .
  4. If removing a heater hose or the heater tube assembly, or if equipped with a 3.9L engine, drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
  5. If removing the dual coolant control valve on vehicles with a 3.0L engine, clamp off the heater hoses at the component before disconnecting.
  6. If equipped with a 3.9L engine and removing a heater hose, the dual coolant control valve or the auxiliary coolant flow pump, disconnect the upper radiator hose at the engine.
  7. To remove individual components, only carry out the following steps. See INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT REMOVING STEPS .
